Microgaming’s original Immortal Romance is arguably one of the best slots ever made. The math model has undergone some minor changes, with increased volatility and a slightly lower top-tier RTP, but the 12,150x potential and the features are similar. Sadly, there is no backstory character building to be found in this follow-up, but a solid soundtrack does provide some atmospheric moments when the tense Wild Showdown feature triggers. You get to unlock and choose from 4 bonus rounds, and it’s a bright and sunny option for those tired of the gothic darkness of the original.

Wild Wild Romance Slot Features

The premium symbols pay between 8.33 and 16.67 x your stake for 5 of a kind, and the crossed pistols Wild symbol can appear anywhere to substitute for regular pay symbols. The wilds not only help you complete wins, they also double any win they are involved in. What’s more, landing 5 wilds on a payline pays 50x your stake.

The Wild Showdown feature can trigger at any given time, awarding up to 5 full wild reels.

Review Summary

It’s really too bad that the visuals don’t quite live up to the soundtrack in this game, and the lack of character and story building is also a problem when you compare it to the iconic, gothic masterpiece, Immortal Romance. Aurum Signature Studios had a chance to ‘go to town’ with it, but has instead conjured up a bland and generic cartoonish presentation where the characters don’t even have names.

A lot is forgiven when The Wild Showdown feature triggers though, and it’s clearly audiovisually inspired by the Morricone-infused Sad Hill Cemetery final showdown in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1966). The 4 bonus round options are the same as in Immortal Romance, but still entertaining and potentially lucrative to the tune of 12,150x your stake. Overall, Wild Wild Romance is a good option to have, but it could have been so much more than it turned out to be.
