Kluster Krystals Megaclusters Review
Players familiar with BTG’s two Megaclusters titles will immediately notice that something is very different with Relax's debut effort, Kluster Krystals Megaclusters. Instead of winning symbols splitting into many smaller symbols, you will see symbols land from 1/4 to 4/4 completed, and be upgraded when they’re next to a winning cluster.
In our view, this is far less visually pleasing than what BTG has dished up with so far. Overall, the visual presentation is a bit cold and generic here, with more or less completed gems dropping against a starry night background. The features all conspire to keep your Cascading wins going however, and multiplier symbols can be upgraded for some pretty solid payouts. Seen as a grid slot, this is pretty solid stuff, but it doesn’t really feel like it runs on a Megaclusters engine.
Kluster Krystals Megaclusters Big WinKluster Krystals Megaclusters Features
All the features are intertwined nicely with the central Megaclusters mechanic, which is the core engine in this game. You need at least 8 matching symbol segments in a cluster to win, as all symbols land as 1/4, 2/4, 3/4 or 4/4 completed within themselves. This means that 2 matching 4/4 completed symbols in the same cluster equals a win, to give you an example.

Each win triggers the Tumble feature, which means that all winning symbols are removed from the grid. New symbols drop down to fill the gap, and the process goes on as long as you keep winning. What’s more, all symbols adjacent to winning symbols get upgraded per win. This means that 1/4 symbols become 2/4, and so forth.
This further increases your likelihood of forming new Tumble wins. You can also land multiplier symbols here, and they come with values of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x. The multiplier symbols are also upgraded when adjacent to winning symbols, and each multiplier can be upgraded 3 times. Each upgrade corresponds to the amount of the base multiplier, which means that the 10x multiplier can go as high as 40x.
The multiplier will boost the total win from any Tumble win sequence. However, you also have 3 random features to help you out along the way. One of the following features will be triggered when you get at least 6 Tumble wins in a row:
- Krystal Vanish – removes a randomly chosen symbol group (colour) from the grid.
- Krystal Boost – all regular symbols are upgraded with 1 stage.
- Krystal Kut – removes all symbols with only 1 stage from the grid.
The bonus symbol comes with 4 segments also, just like the regular symbols. It gets upgraded by being adjacent to winning clusters, and when all 4 segments are activated you trigger the free spins round. This gives you 7 free spins, and you get 4 extra spins when you fully activate a bonus symbol during the bonus round.
The 200 Spins Kluster Krystals Megaclusters Experience
We had some pretty lengthy Tumble Wins during base game play in our test session. You can see how it all played out in our 3-minute highlights video below.
The bonus symbol gets filled pretty quickly, and has to sit there and wait until a long Tumble session has played out. The feature starts at 2:40 into the video.Review Summary
Kluster Krystals Megaclusters is the first game of this kind not coming from the BTG. Relax Gaming has created a visually different version with the licenced mechanic. While the symbol upgrade thing works in a similar fashion, it’s just less pleasing to the eye than seeing symbols split up into ever-smaller clusters. Of course, it’s understandable that Relax wants to distinguish themselves, and kudos for trying something new.
The atmosphere is a bit cold and impersonal also, but technically Kluster Krystals offers a competent grid slot experience. The RTP is above average, and you can win up to 9,921x your stake.
Lengthy Tumbles will be helped along by the random features, and if you can get a multiplier going with some upgrades, you can look forward to solid payouts. Like with so many grid slots, it’s fun when everything works in your favor, but frustrating when it doesn’t.Pros
- Tumble Wins upgrade adjacent symbols from 1/4 to 4/4
- Multiplier symbols can be upgraded up to 40x
- Every 6th tumble gives you 1 of 3 random modifiers
- Bonus round with 7 free spins
- Win up to 9,921x your stake
Cons
- Cold, impersonal gameplay, and not all that visually pleasing
